Summary: As part of the Project, the contractor was required to rehabilitate approximately 7,100 feet of 90-inch to 114-inch-diameter corroded concrete pipe by slip-lining with a fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) pipe liner. During construction, the contractor determined that the specified location of the insertion pit and the work activities associated with the rehabilitation of an adjacent manhole structure would block the existing driveway entrance to a local trucking business on Alameda Street. To minimize disruption and ensure safe access for the business, the Districts directed the contractor to construct a temporary driveway entrance for use during construction. This item is consistent with the Districts’ Guiding Principles to protect financial and facility assets through prudent investment and maintenance programs; and commitment to operational excellence (protection of public health and the environment, regulatory compliance, and cost effectiveness).
